District Secretary
Carolyn Duncan
I am very pleased to be District Secretary again. Much has happened in the three years that I have been "just" a member of my own Club Lutterworth Wycliffe. We saw Suzanne Robinson become District Chairman which was a great honour, I retired from Leicestershire Police where I was a Scene of Crime Officer and most importantly I became Grandma to two wonderful little boys, Fred in 2017 and George early this year.
My life since retirement has not been quiet and now I know why retirees say they don't know how they found time to work ! I volunteer at our local Community Library and I am heavily involved with the local community association. I love all types of crafts and when I can make cards to give to family and friends so along with visiting my daughter and my Grandsons I am kept very busy.
Role of District Secretary
As District Secretary you work very closely with the DC compiling agendas for both the District and Executive meetings and you are responsible for the writing and distribution of the Minutes. It is essential that you have access to and can use a computer for writing minutes, updating spreadsheets and sending and receiving email correspondence from IIW , Association and Clubs. It is important to keep Club Secretaries updated regularly with important information received from IIW and Assoc. and update the club's information on the IIW and Assoc. databases.
Although the role is quite demanding it is probably the best role to do as you become fully aware of how fantastic our organisation is both at Club level and Internationally. Why not give it a go.
