District Editor

Patricia Clews

I was invited to join Ashby Inner Wheel Club by Angela Edwards and Janet Barwood, who I had worked with as a Volunteer at Ashby Museum. I was soon lined up for Correspondent, a role I enjoy.

I am a Barnsley Lass. I trained as a nurse and in 1981 I took a big step and moved to a boys’ boarding school in Gosfield Essex as Assistant Matron, where I met my husband. In fact, he asked me out the first day and we married in Egremont, Cumberland, (my mother’s home town) in December 1982.

I worked at the school as Matron and as a community nurse, to keep up to date with my nursing qualification. In 2001 we moved to Ashby when my husband took the post of Headmaster of Manor House School, Ashby. My husband past away in 2009.

I am a collector of Edwardian postcards and enjoy genealogy, photography, computers, and I like driving which is a good job as my sister is in Yorkshire, and my two older brothers, one in Scotland and one in Devon, and all my cousins in Cumbria. I live in Ashby with my cat Jack.

 The Role of District Editor

The District Editor role will give me the opportunity to see what goes on around our very large geographically spread district, and pass that onto other clubs and Districts.  My love of technology will help, I hope, produce a magazine that showcases all that Inner Wheel stands for in a format to suit you all.  So whether you like to browse on line or flick through paper pages the choice is yours.

Also a key element of the job is to coordinate the Home Service Report each year and I look forward to reading all about your clubs work in the UK.

2012 Inner Wheel Distict 7 District Editor.
