Woman's Welfare

District Chairman's Charity of the Year

District  Chairman Jackie Brame is supporting refuges for victims of domestic violence this year and clubs have been asked if they would help any woman's refuge in their area.  With this in mind 6 clubs (Melton Mowbray Belvior, Loughborough, Wreake Valley, Soar Valley, Shepshed and Coalville) joined forces in buying Christmas Presents for the ladies supported by the LWA (Living without abuse) Charity based in Loughborough.

Their fundraiser Michele Walker gave a very interesting insight into the work they do and was very grateful for the gifts as many of the ladies would not receive any presents at all this year.  Michele also said that Mothers day was a particularly sad time as no one was able to buy gifts from the children - so perhaps this is something Inner Wheel could help with later in the year.

The Lutterworth Wycliffe  Club supported a local Women's Refuge at Christmas by paying for the children and their mums to visit the Pantomime. This was a visit everyone enjoyed.
