District Chairman 2011-2012

Margaret Sismey

Greetings to All Members of District 7 Inner Wheel

Welcome to another Inner Wheel year 2011-2012.

My name is Margaret Sismey and I am your new District Chairman for the coming year.

I have been a member of the Inner Wheel Club of Bourne since 1992 and during that time have served as President, Secretary and Overseas Service Organiser. I also served as District Secretary for 3 years from 2002 to 2005 – a position that I really enjoyed. I have now been recycled onto District and as Chairman I hope I will be able to meet all the challenges that may arise during my year. I am very much looking forward to meeting you all at your meetings and various functions.

I am married to John (second marriage for both of us) who is a Rotarian and between us we have one son and three daughters, Nicholas, Julie, Helen and Elizabeth. We also have six grandchildren and one great grandson. My daughter Helen is a member of my Inner Wheel Club and both Helen and my other daughter Elizabeth are ex Rotaracters.

My hobbies are gardening and flower arranging. John does not like gardening so I am hoping that I can keep on top of the garden during this coming year. John and I also enter an Alfa Romeo in a National Championship, so I get to press pedals when brakes need to be bled!!!

December 2011

My first half of the year will soon be ended and the time has flown very quickly indeed.  I attended the Leicester Assembly in July, an occasion to meet up with the new Association President and all other District Chairmen. I have chaired two District Meetings and you have all been very kind so far – not too many awkward questions – thank goodness!  So far I have visited 19 Clubs for their Business Meetings with 2 more to attend this month and there have been 5 Charter Anniversaries, one of which was Melton Mowbray’s 25th Charter when their President, Wendy Whaite, was presented with the Paul Harris Award.  Our own District 7 Rally on the 15th September 2011 was a very enjoyable event and I have also attended District 6 Rally.

Not quite half way with Club Business meeting visits but I have to say that these are proving very enjoyable indeed.  Every Club is different but the welcome is always the same, very warm and the hospitality has been great – some super meals. I have attended several meetings where new members have been inducted and this has been most encouraging.

When I logged onto the District website this morning in preparation to preparing this message I took the time to log onto all of the Clubs to find out what they are doing.  Oh dear, I only found 3 that had any amount of information – Lutterworth Wycliffe, Stamford Burghley and Wellingborough Hatton.  If your Club would like some idea as to what to put onto your page, please logon to any of these Clubs.  Some Clubs have dates listed of events but as the year is not included in a lot of cases, I could not work out whether it has happened or is still to happen!!  ( I will be having words with my own Club!!)  Please let us have more information of the events you have organised or are to organise – photographs as well would be great.

With the lovely mild and sunny weather that we have been experiencing of late it has not encouraged us to think too much about Christmas.  The 1st December now and I have only just managed to purchase a few Christmas cards.  I really must get organised next week otherwise there will be some very disappointed children and grandchildren!

I would like to take this opportunity of wishing you and all of your families and friends a very Happy and Healthy Christmas and all good wishes for the New Year 2012.  Let us keep  Looking Ahead and Aiming High with all of our efforts during next year.

2012 Inner Wheel Distict 7 District Chairman 2011-2012.
