Convention 2015

District Chairman Margaret with  Convention attendees and  husbands.

A Report by DC Margaret.

After picking  up Pat Cole and travelling to Luton, we had a lovely large cooked breakfast.  Our flight was on time so we arrived in Copenhagen mid morning. Our hotel only a five minute walk away from the Station. After lunch Pat and I registered at the Convention Centre and picked up all our papers plus 7 large shopping bags. (We all recognised other delegates by these large shopping bags.)

The  opening ceremony attended by Crown Princess Mary had singers, Ballet Dancers, and Musicians to entertain us. The new Inner Wheel Friendship Rose was on display, and these could be ordered if wished.

After lunch the business meeting opened when all the voting was done and this continued right through to Saturday lunchtime which, although long ,was very interesting.

The Banner Exchange Evening was very well attended but instead of banners, many countries exchanged business cards !

We had a Cultural Experience at 5  different locations, a river cruise around Copenhagen  and  a Gala Dinner on the final evening which was held in what had been Copenhagen’s Old Cow Sheds. This was an enormous building, where we sat at large tables of 8, from all different countries.

Saturday saw the closing Ceremony which was similar in content to the opening ceremony but we had the large Danish Choir singing , a choir of  90 -100 strong. One of the Choir members had sat next to me at the Gala Dinner. .

We all went to the Tivoli Gardens , after the dinner , to see the lights come on which was beautiful.

Convention in 2018 will be held in Melbourne, Australia.
