District 7 Celebrates its 80th Anniversary

Dictrict Chairman Barbara  and members celebrated our 80th year on a beautiful sunny day with a service of celbration at St May's Church in Finedon.

The service was conducted by  Rev Richard Cole who spoke warmly about Inner Wheel and the impact it has on local communities and how valued the organisation is. Our Choir, lead by Gillian Bindley sang "What a Wonderful World" accompanied by Rev Cole on the piano. Visiting District  Chairmen and past District Chairmen from D6, D11 and D22 were also present.

We then made our way to Kettering Park Hotel for a lovely lunch followed Association Chairman Ann Acaster's address. Rotary District Governor, Tim Tucker, proudly wore the "I love Inner Wheel" badge given to him by past DC Pat Cole. 

Welcome to District 7s 80th Year !!

80th Year !!

As another new Inner Wheel Year starts we , in District 7 have even more to celebrate as it is our 80th year. Our new District Chairman Barbara has been planning a special celebration service to take place just before the District Rally in September at Finedon Church. 

They did it !!!!

DC Jean and MoC Pat finally did their sponsored Zip Wire  in Bournemouth on  Saturday 23rd June.  Who would thought that the weather could be so different to when it was cancelled, due to the bad weather ,in March. Congratulations to both  of you.

District Rally 2017 - a Great success

The District Rally at Greetham Valley Golf Club was enjoyed by all on a beautiful  sunny day. Association Chairman Liz Thomas (centre) gave an inspiring address which emphasied how amazing the family of Inner Wheel is and how proud  every member should be  of belonging to such a caring organisation.

District 7 welcomed the District Chairmen from District 22 Vera Dilks , District 11 Brenda Cairns and District 6 Pam Griffiths. Pam  wore a hat  with a bee on the flower to promote the International Charity they are supporting Bees Abroad  and the Batwa Project.

The District also welcomed Rotary District Governor  Chris Davis.

Margarette Golding Plaque Unveiled

Jane  from the Oadby Club attended this special moment in Inner Wheel history. Read her report below...........

When I saw the article in the Association Magazine that a plaque would be unveiled to commemorate the birth on 20th November 1881 of Margarette  Golding nee Owen at 134 High Street Blaenau  Festiniog North Wales, I just knew I had to be there for 3 reasons.

Firstly Inner Wheel has been part of my life since my mother was a founder member of the Caernarvon Club in 1951. Secondly Mum had been District Chairman of District 18 which included the local Club Porthmadog who were hosting the event and finally because of my surname which  is  Moelwyn-Hughes. Blaenau is situated at the foot of the Moelwyn mountains and has very close associations with my late husband’s family.
